Silver Medals for Midstream Girls A at Top Schools 2022
The Midstream College Girls A Team won the silver medals at the Top Schools Squash Tournament 2022!
Earlier this year the Midstream College Girls A Team qualified as winners in the regional round of the Top Schools Tournament. CJS had the privilege to coach the team in preparation for the national event.
The team traveled to East London for the final national tournament on the weekend of 29 to 31 July 2022.
The team consisted of the following players;
- Awande Malinga
- Kiara Poole
- Elzandri Janse van Rensburg
- Anja van der Merwe
- Namratha Eswari Niranjan
- Cassey Kemp
The team won all their matches leading up to the finals:
- Midstream College vs. St Mary’s (Gauteng): WON 20-2
- Midstream vs Epworth College (KZN) : WON 14 – 6
- Midstream vs Herschel College (WP) :WON 20 -1
- Midstream vs Eunice (Free State) : WON 20 – 0
The final match was against Clarendon College (Border). Both teams were unbeaten going into the final match.
Unfortunately for Midstream College, Clarendon College had a home turf advantage with lots of school friends supporting in school uniform, the Headmaster, parents, and local supporters. This unit was hard to beat and Midstream College lost narrowly, finishing in 2nd place in South Africa!
We congratulate the team of Clarendon College this time but promise to be back in full force next year.
