Enter the CJS Club Champs 2022

We are closing a busy squash year with the CJS Club Championship!

This tournament is only for CJS players, and it is the last hoorah for 2022!  There are two tournaments.  The first tournament will be for Grade 4 -12 players, while the second tournament will be for our Pre-School – Grade 3 players.

We want to encourage all the CJS players to come and play!  While the tournament is the deciding tournament to determine the CJS Club Champions, the results will also be used as a guide for the groups for 2023, and in particular, which players to be invited to the Rising Stars, Young Guns, Elite, and Top 12 Groups.

Dates

  • Grade 4 to Grade 12 Club Champs:  14 – 16 October 2022 (Closing date for entries: Monday, 10 October 2022, 12h00)
  • Preschool to Grade 3 Club Champs: 28 – 30 October 2022 (Closing date for entries: Monday, 24 October 2022, 12h00)

Venues

  • For the Gr 4 – Gr 12 Club Champs, the venues will be Uitsig Squash Club, Irene Country Club’s squash courts and if necessary, Midstream Ridge Squash Courts.
  • For the Preschool – Grade 3 Club Champs, the venues will be Irene Country Club’s squash courts and Midstream Ridge Squash Courts.

Spectators will be allowed according to the capacity of a specific venue.

Entry Fee

  • For 1 player: R250 per player

For families with 2 or more children who will be participating:

  • For 2 players: R400 for both players
  • For 3 children: R550 for all players.

Playing Times

  1. Players must be available to play throughout the weekend. Once finalized, match times cannot be changed. We respect our opponents therefore no exceptions will be allowed.
  2. Depending on the number of entries the tournament will start on Friday 17h00. We will try to organise the draw in order for a specific group to play over 2 days instead of 3 days.
  3. Players are expected to mark and referee the match following theirs. Winners to referee and losers to mark.
  4. Draws and times will be available to players by Thursday 13 Oct (for the Grade 4- Grade 12 Tournament) and by Thursday 27 Oct (for the Preschool to Grade 3 Club Champs).  Please make sure you have supplied us with an accurate email address and cell phone number.
  5. We will also use Whats app groups to confirm draws and changes.

Clothes and Equipment

  1. PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR IS COMPULSORY! This includes during the warm-up.
  2. Players must wear clothing suitable for squash as per SA Schools’ Squash, Squash SA, and WSF regulations.

Scoring and Marking

  1. Players are expected to mark and referee the match following theirs. Winners to referee and losers to mark. NB: Coaches will be on the court with beginner players and will help with marking.
  2. Players who play 2nd on the day, are expected to mark and referee the first game of the day, and then mark and referee again after their own game.
  3. Scoring will be best of 5 games ”point-a-rally” up to 15 points (Primary School) and 11 points (High School).
  4. For the Preschool to Grade 3 Club Champs, the scoring will be best of 5 games ”point-a-rally” up to 15 points for Top players. Beginner matches will be best out of 10 minutes.
  5. All cell phones are banned while marking. The referee may use his/her cell phone for timekeeping purposes only.
  6. Parent interference will not be allowed in marking and refereeing. Court officials will be available to assist where needed.

General

  1. Players are to abide by the rules of Squash SA, Centurion Junior Squash, Irene, and Uitsig Squash Club.
  2. The Dunlop Pro XX will be the official match squash ball for primary school Players. High Altitude Ball will be used for the high school players. Groups of different age groups will play with Dunlop Pro XX.  The bigger ball will be used for beginner players.
  3. The CJS Club Champs Tournament will be publishing draws, results, and photos of players. As this is a part of the CJS Club Champs tournament rules, the organisers will deem that players and their parents have accepted these regulations by entering the tournament.
  4. In all circumstances, the Tournament Referee’s decision is final.
